March 5, 2010/20 Adar 5770 Ki Tisa - Exodus 30:11-34:35
God addresses Moses, who is on Mt. Sinai, and instructs him regarding a census of the Israelites, speaks of Betzalel and Oholiab, Israelites whom God has chosen to be the chief artisans for the building of the Tabernacle, and instructs the Israelites about observing the Sabbath as a sign of the covenant between God and the people. God then inscribes the Tablets, which Moses has hewn out of rock, with the Ten Commandments. Moses descends the mountain and is so enraged when he sees the Israelites worshipping and dancing around the golden calf, that he smashes the Tablets.
