The Pre-School at Temple Emanuel is very excited to announce the formation of a Transitional Kindergarten class. This class is designed for the child eligible for kindergarten but who may not be emotionally, physically or academically ready for a regular kindergarten program.  Children with summer or fall birthdays often fall in this category.  A child entering school is expected to have strong language skills, remain on task, and be socially competent. The demands of kindergarten are greater than ever and children are faced with increased workloads, which must be done speedily and independently. This is where those children, who are not developmentally ready, fall behind and become frustrated. Pushing a child ahead when he or she is not ready opens the door to failure. They need the “gift” of an extra year.  Allowing a child that additional year of maturity along with good supportive academic programming, will provide him/her with the skills necessary to be successful in Kindergarten and often for the rest of his/her academic career. Temple Emanuel is known for its small classes, individualized instruction and innovative teaching staff. It is the perfect place for children to develop the skills they need for academic success.
