Lyn Harley is thrilled to join the Temple Emanuel family as the Director of Early Childhood Education. Lyn has served as a Speech Language Pathologist in the public schools for 35 years. For the past 15 years, her specialty was preschool speech and language, as she was the speech language specialist for the Palmyra School district’s inclusive preschool program. Along with her public school job, Lyn worked as a Sunday school teacher in the religious school at Temple Emanuel for over 10 years. She began teaching before the Temple moved to Cherry Hill and remembers the excitement at the founding of the Pre-School. During this time as well Lyn spent many summers working at the JCC camps, first as a Division Head and then as Assistant Director for Camp Shalom.
Lyn graduated from Douglass College in 1970 with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology. She received her Master’s Degree in 1991 from Trenton State College, which is now the College of New Jersey. In the course of her career, she has worked in the Barrington School District, Woodlynne, the Bright Eyes preschool program in Maple Shade, and Head Start in Camden County. She has served as the preschool case manager on the Child Study Team and has often been called upon as a presenter for parent and teacher workshops on preschool speech and language development and treatment.
Lyn has four children, Bryan, Scott, Devra, and Steven and a beautiful grandchild named Tyler. She is married to Steve Harley and resides in Moorestown. It is with great joy that Lyn is able to combine her love of working with young children and their families along with providing them with their first Jewish educational experience. |
