Rabbi Jerome P. David
Senior Rabbi

Rabbi Jerome P. David is senior rabbi at Temple Emanuel, a position he has held since 1987. Rabbi David joined Temple Emanuel in 1974 as assistant rabbi, and was promoted to associate rabbi in 1977.

Rabbi David is active in a wide range of community and social service organizations. He is treasurer of the Tri-County Board of Rabbis, and is a member of the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) and the Delaware Valley Area Reform Rabbis (DVARR). He is presently chair of the Rabbis' Division of Allied Jewish Appeal. He serves on the Boards of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey and the Susan G. Koman Foundation. He is an instructor for the Union for Reform Judaism's course on "Introduction to Judaism."

Rabbi David has previously served on the CCAR executive board (1987-1989); was co-chair of Operation Exodus (1980), president of DVARR (1987-1989); a member of the New Jersey State Commission on Holocaust Education (1991-1997), the Cherry Hill Township Ethics Committee and Alliance to Fight Alcohol Abuse. He also served on the executive board of the Jewish Community Center, which named him Volunteer of the Year in 1987.

Rabbi David holds an M.A.H.C degree from Hebrew Union College, Jewish Institute of Religion, and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati. He and his wife, Peggy, have three married sons, Benjamin, Jonathan, and Adam and two grandchildren. Peggy David, MSW, LCSW, is a psychotherapist with the Centra Group in Marlton, NJ.
